Holiday Rentals in Val d'Oise - A Guide to Val d'Oise

Your holiday rental in Val d’Oise will be situated in a Departement that is just to the north west of the petite couronne, which is a ring of departements immediately around the centre of Paris. The petite couronne, together with Val d’Oise, Yvelines and Seine-et-Marne form a large circle around Paris, called the Ile-de-France region.

Given it’s proximity to the most northern regions in France, your Val d-Oise holiday rentals will be easy to reach by car from the Calais side of the Eurotunnel, using the A16 via Amiens. Alternatively, you can fly to Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport, which is on the eastern border of the Val-d’Oise Departement, and is easily reachable from many UK airports on a daily basis.

The L’Oise river runs north to south through the middle of the Departement, which is mostly agricultural and is similar in appearance to the southern counties of England. The very south of the Departement is built-up, forming part of the suburbs of Paris.

Part of the Charles-de-Gaulle Airport is in the commune of Roissy-en-France, within the Val d’Oise Departement thus making Val d-Oise holiday rentals an easy and convenient choice from the UK. Roissy (as it’s known colloquially) gave it’s name to the airport, which is still known as Roissy Airport within France.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Val d'Oise

Given the Departement’s rural nature, there are not a great deal of properties to rent in Val d’Oise, but those that are available are of a high quality.

The majority are houses to rent in Val d’Oise; one in particular that I found most desirable, is a house to rent in Auvers-sur-Oise, right in the middle of the Departement. It’s a four bedroom house / villa with two bathrooms and will sleep six people. It benefits from a private heated swimming pool and is only 25 kilometres from Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

Alternatively, why not rent a house in Vethueil that I found, having just two bedrooms, sleeping four people, but set in a very rural area to the far west of the Departement. The property is very homely, and has plenty of land around it.

This is a great place if you fancy being relatively near to Paris, but with such activities as horse ridng, cycling, fishing etc on your doorstep.

Val d'Oise Useful Information

Val d’Oise has it’s prefecture in Pontoise, and the Departement is divided into 3 Arrondissements, 39 Cantons and 185 Communes. It’s a relatively sparsely populated area, having around 1.2 million inhabitants in an area of 1246 square kilometres.

Your holiday rental in Val d’Oise will most likely be away from any major towns and set in rural agricultural or wooded areas, but may offer a nice alternative to a holiday rental in Paris. It will certainly be a relaxing place to stay, within a couple of hours drive from Calais, so you’ll be able to reach your Val d’Oise holiday rental with ease from the United Kingdom.
