Holiday Rentals in Picardie - A Guide to Picardie
This region is situated in Northern France, making holiday rentals in Picardie very accessible for visitors from the UK.
It is closest to the ferry ports of Calais, Dover, Boulogne and Le Havre, and you can reach the capital town of Amiens in less than two hours. You can also fly to Beauvais from the UK, and at the time of writing this article, Ryanair offered a service from several airports.
You can reach Amiens by car from central Paris in around an hour and a half, or by train in just over an hour, and this proximity to Paris makes options for reaching your Picardie holiday rentals more plentiful.
Types of Holiday Rentals in Picardie
The most popular holiday rentals in Picardie are two bedroom houses, which of course are ideal for family holidays.
I found a very quaint fisherman’s cottage to rent in le Crotoy, which is on the coast between Dieppe and Boulogne. The property has 2 bedrooms, but has a sofa bed in the lounge, so it actually sleeps up to 6 people. Outside it has a small terrace with a barbeque, but most of your outdoor time would probably be spent on the beautiful sandy beach, the only south-facing beach on the northern coast of France.
There is also a marina with many lively cafes and restaurants which offer extensive seafood menus. Houses to rent in Picardie are in plentiful supply and varied in design and location.
There are also some beautiful chateaux to rent in Picardie, and I have seen some which sleep as many as 36 people. One in particular caught my eye – a 19th century chateau with lavish decorations, marble fireplaces and oriental furnishings. There are 8 ensuite bedrooms for up to 20 people in the main building and a further two chalets accommodating another 12 people. There is even a home cinema room with state of the art equipment, a gym, a games room, a room with disco equipment, and a huge dining room. What an amazing setting it would make for a celebration with family and friends, and when shared amongst a few families, the cost is really not prohibitive.
One thing is for sure, Picardie houses to rent are accessible from the UK and offer something to suit the needs of everyone, be it a small house or apartment on the coast or a huge chateau in a rural location.
