14th Arrondissement of Paris - "Observatoire"
Your holiday rental in the 14th arrondissement of Paris is located on the left bank of the River Seine within the region of Ile de France. It contains most of the Montparnasse district – traditionally the home to many artists. In the 1920s and 30s residents included Hemingway, Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani.
If you are staying within central Paris for your trip then the quickest way to get there is using the Eurostar. The train will take you into Gare de Nord station and from there use the Metro to your final destination. Alternately you could fly direct from the UK to one of Paris’ two main airports. As you are to the south of central Paris, Orly airport is the nearest to your holiday rentals in the 14th arrondissement of Paris.
If you intend to travel further afield then I would suggest either driving direct from the Channel Tunnel in Calais or hire a car from the airport.

Types of holiday rentals in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris
holiday rentals in the 14th arrondissement of Paris are in a largely residential area which makes it a more reasonable place to stay than central Paris. Nearly all properties are 1-2 bedroom apartments, many with stunning views of The Eiffel Tower in the distance (you will pay more for this view).
One such property in Montparnasse is on the 14th floor, has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and has a magnificent view of Le Tour Eiffel – especially magnificent by night!
If you wanted to move into a quieter part of town then I have discovered a beautiful modern two-bedroom apartment, which overlooks Montsouris Park. The park is considered to be one of the most colourful parks in Paris – it has a large lake, exotic plants and trees and even a waterfall. It has been tastefully decorated in contemporary style and the balcony with outdoor seating has beautiful views of the parkland.
Paris 14th Arrondissement Useful Information
Although property to rent in the 14th arrondissement of Paris is in the suburbs, that doesn’t mean there is nothing to do or see.
One of the most eye-popping sights is ‘les catacombes de Paris’ - a network of tunnels originally from the Roman era, which now house the remains of 6 million burials from around Paris – very eerie! Continuing on the theme of death, Montparnasse cemetery is where you will find famous headstones of Baudelaire, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir amongst others.
The 14th district is also the home to Tour Montparnasse - the tallest skyscraper in France. Although mostly offices, there is a restaurant and terrace on the top floor for viewing the city. It is certainly not the Empire State Building in terms of height or looks - it is said that it has the best views of Paris because you can’t see the tower itself!
Whatever your view, it makes a great base from which to enjoy your holiday rental in the 14th arrondissement of Paris.
