The department of Marne is situated in the French region of Champagne-Ardenne in the north-eastern part of France. The department takes its name from the river by the same name, which flows through it.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Marne
Houses to rent in Marne are a popular option. Whilst researching properties, I came across a stunning gite in the heart of the Champagne region. It has a wonderfully light and modern interior with 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 separate toilets, and can accommodate up to 9 people. There is a contemporary fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, living area, and outside there is a garden with a terrace and barbeque.
I also spotted another fabulous example of available houses to rent in Marne. It was a pretty 150 year old village farmhouse between Brie and Champagne which is in a village location and has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a garden with chairs, a terrace, barbeque and even bikes to borrow.
There is a wide range of Marne houses to rent, and you are sure to find something suitable.
Marne Useful Information
Holiday rentals in Marne are spread across 5 arrondisements, 44 cantons and 619 communes. The Prefecture, or central governing point, is based in Chalons-en-Champagne. Of course, Marne produces the most famous wine in the world, as it is home to the Champagne vineyards, so why not take advantage of the vineyards and take time learn a little about Champagne production and even conduct some tasting! Head to Epernay for a stroll along the “Avenue de Champagne” where you will find most of the leading manufacturers of Champagne situated, and where there are said to be millions of bottles of champagne stored beneath in chalk cellars.
Marne holiday rentals are ideally placed to enjoy sightseeing and architecture, and Reims is one of the many places worth a visit. There is the Notre-Dame de Reims, a 13th century Roman Catholic cathedral and World Heritage Site, the Palace of Tau which was formerly the residences of French Kings during their coronation or the elegant 17th century Town Hall.
There are some stunning chateaux to visit in the area, including the luxurious Chateau Les Crayeres, built in 1904 as the home of the Pommery family, and a hotel since 1979. The expensive suites may be out of the question for some, but the restaurant offers gastronomic delights and I’m told there is a set menu during the week. The Pommery family are said to have removed trees to create a panoramic view of Reims Catherdral.
This is a wonderful area to visit for a holiday or a long weekend, with beautiful scenery, wonderful towns and villages offering a wealth of experiences for all. You are sure to enjoy your holiday rentals in Marne.
