Holiday Rentals in Manche - A Guide to Manche
The department of Manche is located in the French region of Normandy. Its name comes from the English Channel, which the French call “La Manche”. Manche is surrounded to the north, east and west by the Channel and has 350km of coastline.
Holiday rentals in Manche are very easily accessible by car from the UK, with regular ferry services to Dieppe, Cherbourg, Le Havre or Caen. You can also take the Eurotunnel from the UK, arriving at Calais, which is then a drive along the coast to Manche.
By air you can fly into Paris and then drive or catch the train to your destination, and I recommend you look at our guide to getting the cheapest car hire in Manche.
Types of Holiday Rentals in Manche
Houses to rent in Manche are very popular and I recently saw a gorgeous 2 bedroom fisherman’s house which easily accommodates a family of 4. It’s situated close to the beach and you can take full advantage of the setting by swimming, buying fresh fish direct from the boat, exploring the harbour or enjoying the view from a beachside café.
The property has a large enclosed garden, ideal for enjoying a leisurely breakfast or a barbeque in the evening. The house is newly refurbished inside and benefits from a fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom, twin bedroom and a modern shower room. If you prefer a more rural location, there are many Manche houses to rent which will offer seclusion and privacy.
I came across a tradition Norman stone house with 2 bedrooms which sleeps up to 6 people. It is in a rural location but still only 6km from the sandy beaches of Normandy. It is full of character, with a charming open fireplace in the lounge.
