Holiday Rentals in Indre-et-Loire - A Guide to Indre-et-Loire
Your Indre-et-Loire holiday rentals will be found in the middle of France, in the aptly named Centre region. The department can be reached easily by car from Le Havre, using a combination of country roads and the A28 Autoroute via Le Mans; the French part of the journey only taking around 4 hours. You could also try an alternative, though slightly longer route using the channel tunnel to Calais, then driving down to Paris and along the A10 Autoroute to Tours, the region’s Prefecture.
There is an airport in Tours, but the nearest international airports are Nantes to the west, around 40 minutes by TGV train to the centre of the department, and Paris Charles de Gaulle to the east, around 90 minutes by TGV. I’d recommend hiring a car from the airport though, because there are a great deal of sites to see in the Departement, scattered far and wide. Your holiday rentals in Indre-et-Loire are most likely going to be in a rural location, unless you are looking to choose a city centre holiday rental in Tours, which is the only really large city in the Departement.
Situated in amongst the Loire Valley, your holiday rental in Indre-et-Loire will be perfectly positioned to reach plenty of different wine producing areas and numerous chateaux, greatly influenced by the French renaissance.
Types of Holiday Rentals in Indre-et-Loire
The majority of available Indre-et-Loire holiday rentals are cottages, whilst there are also plenty of houses to rent in Indre-et-Loire too, and a fair few chateaux to rent in Indre-et-Loire.
For a truly opulent stay away, how about trying a chateau to rent in Indre-et-Loire? I have found the most amazing place, just south of Tours, which is a chateau in the true sense of the word. It’s enormous, luxurious and elegant and comes complete with 12 turrets and an amazing 52 fireplaces. It has 14 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms and all the rooms throughout are flawlessly decorated. The chateau and grounds make up one corner of a quaint village, and whilst costing over £8000 a week, split between 14 couples, the price to stay in this beautiful place works out to be very reasonable indeed.
At the other end of the scale for holiday rentals in Indre-et-Loire, I found a lovely cottage to rent in Pouzay, half way between Tours and Poitiers, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and lots of old rustic character, whilst actually having been recently renovated to a high standard, with modern facilities. The cottage is located adjacent the banks of the River Vienne and is ideally located to reach all that holiday rentals in Indre-et-Loire have to offer.
