Holiday Rentals in Haute-Garonne - A Guide to Haute-Garonne

Your holiday rental in Haute-Garonne will be nestled down in the far south west of France, adjacent the border with Spain, in the Midi-Pyrenees Region.

The Departement’s prefecture is Toulouse, which is home to Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. This airport is the fourth largest in France, handling well over 6 million passengers a year, and has plenty of daily flights from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh and other United Kingdom locations, so it’s really easy to get to your Haute-Garonne holiday rental by air.

Alternatively, if you’d like to drive to your holiday rental in Haute-Garonne, it’ll take you around 10 hours in one long hit from Calais, slightly less if you are travelling across the English Channel by ferry to Dieppe or Le Havre. One good thing about driving to this region, is that you don’t need to drive through Paris on the way; instead taking a more westerly route down through Le Mans and either Limoges on the E09 or Bordeaux via the E05.

The Departement of Haute-Garonne is rural, and as such, the public transport isn’t the best, so it’s advisable to hire a car from the airport if you choose to fly and want to be able to travel around this picturesque, rather hilly area freely.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Haute-Garonne

There is a large range of different property available in the area. The most popular are houses to rent in Haute-Garonne and apartments to rent in Haute-Garonne, though if you look, you can find some beautiful cottages, chateaux, or even a barn.

I found a charming farmhouse to rent near Toulouse, though in fact, it’s 25 kilometres to the south east, near a small town called Villefranche de Lauragais. It is a beautifully appointed 3 bedroom property, able to sleep 6 people, and has 2 bathroom, a large rustic looking living area, and most importantly, a lovely swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space.

There are several great looking chateaux available in the area, but I found one chateau to rent in Sainte Foy d’Aigrefeuille that looks particularly impressive. You can either rent a single bedroom or the whole property, which has 5 bedrooms, each with it’s own bathroom and fireplace. There is an impressive swimming pool, large gardens and huge well decorated rooms. The property dates back several hundred years and is a magnificent sight and well worth a close look if you fancy a chateau rental in Haute-Garonne.

Haute-Garonne Useful Information

The Departement is spit into 3 Arrondissements, 53 Cantons and 588 Communes and has a population of around 1.2 million people, with a land area of 6309 square kilometres.

The Garonne River crosses the Departement for over a hundred miles and is mountainous in the south, being part of the Pyrenees mountain range. The south part of Haute-Garonne is sparsely populated, with most of the Departement’s population living near or in Toulouse, which is also a university town.

Given the mountainous terrain in the south, why not choose a holiday rental in Haute-Garonne in the winter, and take a trip to one of the four ski resorts in the Departement.

Finally, when considering your Haute-Garonne holiday rental, remember that it gets fairly hot in the summer, from May through to September, but has a fair amount of rain, due to the proximity to the mountains.
