Holiday Rentals in Duingt - A Guide to Duingt

Holiday rentals in Duingt, Duingt holiday rentals, Chalets and villas to rent in DuingtDuingt holiday rentals are located 12km south of Annecy and 30km north-east of Albertville, on the west bank of Lake Annecy.

The closest main route to the area is the E712/A41 road which runs north to south down past Lake Annecy. Duingt holiday rentals are then situated on the D1508 road or the more familiar name of ‘Route d’Annecy’.

If travelling by train the nearest train station is at Annecy, or alternatively, fly to Geneva Airport which is around 56 kilometres from Duingt.

You are best to hire a car at the airport which you will find necessary for getting in and around the local villages. For some great deals on car hire in Duingt see our link above.

According to “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France”, Duingt is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its medieval houses and streets the village has maintained much of its historic charm. Well worth leaving your car behind and taking a leisurely walk around the town and soaking up the historic and fantastic views.

Types of Holiday Rentals in Duingt

Holiday rentals in Duingt, Duingt holiday rentals, Chalets and villas to rent in DuingtAs the village is fairly small there is not a huge choice of Duingt holiday rentals on offer. There are the odd apartments here and there and a few fine hotels including the Hotel du Lac. There are 3 castles in the area but none of these offer accommodation.

A fine apartment overlooking the lake is the ‘Annecy Luxury Lakeside Serviced Apartments. A typical four bedroom apartment can sleep up to 10 guests, with 3 bathrooms and 1 separate toilet, kitchen, living room and dining room.

The rooms are simply but comfortably furnished with a great outlook over the lake & snow capped mountains in the distance. The gardens are very well looked after and located right on the banks of the lake; this is certainly one of the better holiday rentals in Duingt.

You can find a stunning villa to rent in Duingt with lakeside access and amazing views but first you’ll have to find one and then you’ll have to have a big wallet to pay for it.

Duingt Useful Information

Holiday rentals in Duingt, Duingt holiday rentals, Chalets and villas to rent in DuingtHoliday rentals in Duingt are located in the department of Haute-Savoie which is part of the larger region of Rhone-Alpes. Land area covers 4.39 square kilometres and holds a population of around 800 people.

There is a local legend in the area of a lord of Duingt who decided to build a bridge from the Duingt peninsula to the Roc de Chere promontory which is on the other side of the lake.

He summoned help from the spirits in the area but refused to pay them on completion; the spirits then rebelled and magically removed the bridge. The brick piers can still be seen underwater at the shallows just east of the castle. Not wanting to ruin the legend, but local archaeologists say that the piers are remains of dwellings that where built when the lake was at a lower level. (I’m sticking with the legend myself).

Holiday rentals in Duingt offer a great little place to stay, with great scenery, historic legends, superb lake views and interesting medieval streets and houses. I’ve certainly made a note of it in my ‘Top Places to visit’ list.
