Holiday rentals in Dordogne are situated in the north eastern corner of the Aquitaine Region of France, which itself lies in the south western corner of the country, bordering Spain and the Atlantic Ocean. It is nestled between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees and the Departement is named after the river Dordogne that runs through the area. Dordogne covers a substantial area, being the third largest Departement in France.

The departement’s most famous town is Bergerac, which produces a large volume of red, white and rose wines. There are several Bastides around your holiday rentals in Bergerac. These are walled, fortified towns or villages, which obviously have a great deal of historic interest.
The departement also has a large number of chateaux to visit, such as the Chateau de Monbazillac, built in the mid-sixteenth century and surrounded by the Monbazillac vineyards.
