Holiday Rentals in Ain - A Guide to Ain
The departement of Ain is in the region of Rhone-Alpes, close to Italy and Switzerland, and well placed being midway between Geneva and Lyon.
This excellent location means that there are plenty of options for travelling to your holiday rentals in Ain. The excellent road network in France makes driving very easy, and the E15 Euroroute which runs all the way from Scotland to Spain passes through Rhone-Alpes.
The departement of Ain is well served by international airports at Lyon and Grenoble, both within Rhone-Alpes and offering flights from low cost airlines such as Easyjet from a choice of UK airports. Ain also benefits from the TGV rail network which runs from Paris to Lyon in only two hours, and onwards to the Mediterranean.
Types of Holiday Rentals in Ain
Holiday rentals in Ain are popular particularly in the winter during the ski season and there is plenty of choice available. 1 bedroom apartments to rent in Ain are particularly desirable, and whilst researching the area I came across many such properties.
One in particular caught my attention - a very nicely finished 1 double bedroom apartment to rent in Grilly. The property has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and is just 100m from a ski run, 200m from the nearest shop and 400m from the centre of town. Ain apartments to rent offer a good base for your ski holiday or for exploring the area.
If you prefer a more extravagant holiday, how about an elegant 4 bedroom villa to rent in Ain overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps? The property has 3 bathrooms and sleeps up to 8 guests. The dining room and living room are both huge and the smart kitchen is fully equipped. Outside there are beautifully finished gardens, a barbeque, terrace and balcony. There are many Ain holiday rentals which offer this level of comfort and sophistication, so you will be spoilt for choice when selecting your destination.
Ain Useful Information
Holiday rentals in Ain are spread across 4 arrondisements, 43 cantons and 419 communes, and the Prefecture, or central governing body, for the departement is situated in Bourg-en-Bresse.
As well as skiing, there are many activates available locally such as paragliding, horse riding, golf, fishing, cycling, windsurfing and roller blading. It is this variety of sports available that demonstrates that there is far more to the area than skiing, and that it is not just a winter holiday resort. The department is considered a paradise for walkers because of the diversity of its landscape: the historic area of Dombe made up of flat marshlands, the Jura mountains with their peak at Le Cret de la Neige, the fertile Bresse plain, and the Bugey peaks to the south of Ain.
When staying at your Ain holiday rental, I really recommend you visit the medieval town of Perouges. I myself visited here a few years ago and just loved the quaint cobbled streets and the beautiful old stone houses. The village is so authentic and so well preserved since the 14th century that many films have been made here – including The Three Musketeers in 1973 starring Michael York.
Wherever your holiday rental in Ain is situated, all that the area has to offer means that you are sure to have a fantastic time.
