Bagnoles de l'Orne holiday rentals

I have just finished writing about holiday rentals in Orne and have come across the town of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne.

It is set in the heart of a 17,000 acre protected forest and is most famous for its hydrotherapic baths said to date back to the Middle Ages.

But there is more to the town than the healing powers of the thermal waters - horse-jumping, art & music festivals, a casino, great shopping, the stunning lake and landscaped gardens and the 'Belle Epoque' and 'Art Deco' architecture.

A truly beautiful town and one with so much to do and see.

If you like fish, choose a holiday in the Tarn

My family and I broke down while driving through France many years ago and found ourselves in a pretty village in the department of Tarn next to a wonderful gorge with cascading river.

I have lasting memories of stunning scenery and wonderfully fresh trout straight from the river eaten in a very pretty restaurant.

Read Catherine Webb's guide to holiday rentals in Tarn and discover a wonderful part of France.

Eure holiday rentals - A department of Normandy

"Houses to rent in Eure are the most popular type of holiday rental. If you are interested in the area, how about a traditional Normandy house to rent in a tranquil location with a heated swimming pool."

Visit Port Grimaud while at your Saint-Maxime holiday rental

Nestled in the heart of the Cote d'Azur, Saint-Maxime holiday rentals conjure up images of sunny summer days lying by swimming pools while looking out over the grogeous French countryside.

If this sounds like your idea of a relaxing summer break then make sure you take time out to visit Port Grimaud. Port Grimaud holiday rentals tend to be favoured by the boating set and are not cheap but even if you don't own a boat do go and visit. You won't be dissapointed.

Karl Webb tells us about a charming Charente holiday rental he's found

There’s a lovely barn to rent in Manot, a small village to the north east of Angouleme. It has 4 bedrooms and can sleep ten people. It has stone walls and exposed oak beams, and outside, a 10m swimming pool. It also benefits from being adjacent to the River Vienne, ideal if you’d like to take a boat down the river to the local village.

Neil Todd explores holiday rentals in Aisne

Aisne holiday rentals are well linked by road and rail and within close reach of the Belgian cities of Brussels, Mons and Bruge. Aisne is generally cheaper than the neighbouring department of Oise (We also have an article on holiday rentals in Oise) as it’s further away from Paris but benefits UK residents as it’s within easy reach of the Channel tunnel or ferry.

Fantastic property to rent in Eure-et-Loir

I have just been writing about holiday rentals in Eure-et-Loir within the Loire Valley region of France. It is truly an impressive area - monumental chateaux, great wine and Chartres Cathedral.

And if you fancy experiencing the opulent glamour of the areas chateaux, then why not rent a chateau in Eure-et-Loir. There are some amazing places to stay in the region - Chateau de Neuval for example - a restored castle situated in stunning parkland with heated pool, four-poster beds and grand fireplaces. It sleeps up to 12 people, so perfect for a break with family or friends. I fell in love with this place -maybe you will too!

Holiday rentals in Charante-Maritime

As mentioned in my review of holiday rentals in Charente-Maritime, a big tourist attraction of the department is 'Fort Boyard'.
Construction was started in 1801 and finally completed in 1857. It was then in use from 1857 untill 1913 and typically held around 250 soldiers.
In 1988, restoration work was carried out in order to prepare it for the tv game show also named Fort Boyard. The fort was electrified and a contraption similar to an oil rig has been installed on the side in order to facilitate access to television crews. Restoration on the fort finished in 1989 and filming started in 1990. Fort Boyard has been used as the set for the show to this day.
Well worth a visit from your Charente-Maritime holiday rental.

Correze Departement

I am very excited having just written about the holiday rentals in Correze.

It is an off-the-beaten-track area with the most fantastic villages. The village of Collognes-la-Rouge is entirely made from red sandstone and as such has a very eeiry yet fairytale quality.

I also discovered a property to rent in Correze that young children would find fun. A couple of renovated gipsy caravans, situated on a site with pool, play area, ponies, trampoline and bouncy castle for the kids and a clubhouse with bar, restaurant and lounge for the adults. Perfect!

This is a truly undiscovered area for me and one that I would really love to explore.

Loir-et-Cher Chateau de Blois

Following on from my article on the holiday rentals in Loir-et-Cher department of France. I did mention the numerous Chateaux in the area, one of which really stood out for me - The Royal Chateau de Blois.
The residence of several French Kings, it is also the place where Joan of Arc went in 1429 to be blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before departing with her army to drive the English from Orleans.

As you can see from the picture the Chateau's most renowned feature is the spiral staircase in the Francois I wing. Well worth a visit from your holiday rentals in Loir-et-Cher.
